MiGs arrived in Serbia

The first two MiG-29 aircrafts from the Russian Federation were delivered tonight to the Serbian Armed Forces.

The landing of the An-124 transport plane and the arrival of aircrafts at the Batajnica Airfield was attended by Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubiša Diković, and AF and AD Commander, Major General Ranko Živak.
 
Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin, after landing of "Ruslan" at the Batajnica Airfield, said that there came information from the Russian side on 4th July that the agreement between Vladimir Putin, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and Aleksandar Vučić, the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, will be fulfilled on 2nd October 2017.
 
– As you can see, this really happened on 2nd October 2017, and the first two MiGs from military assistance received from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation arrived at Batajnica Airfield. By Friday, the remaining four planes will arrive and we will be able to proudly say that for the first time since 1987 our aviation has been getting new equipment. It is a great thing that we manage to fight not only for improvement of the position of our members, but also to make our army stronger, more organized and more modern – Minister Vulin said.
 
Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Ljubiša Diković, pointed out that today is a great day for our Armed Forces and our Air Force, since after, practically, tens of years we are getting airplanes, which is very important for the overall defence capability of our country. He thanked the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Government for provision of the aircraft and stressed that today's act saved our aviation.
 
Air Force and Air Defence Commander General Major Ranko Živak emphasized that this is a historical day for our Air Force and Air Defence, adding that these planes will be a significant contribution to our capabilities and that the members of the Air Force and Air Defence will do their best to ensure that the security of the Republic of Serbia and its airspace be at the highest level.
