Chief of General Staff at Military Parade in Nicosia

Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, visited Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, with his delegation, and today he has attended the military parade organized on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Cyprus’ independence.
The delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces attended the parade at the invitation of Chief of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, who hosted a reception for General Mojsilović and our delegation on the eve of the military parade.
In a conversation, the friendship that binds our countries and peoples was highlighted, with an assessment that the military cooperation between Serbia and Cyprus so far had been comprehensive and fruitful, and that there was room for its further improvement in new areas of mutual interest.
Having in mind that General Tsitsikostas’ professional military service will end soon, with gratitude for his cooperation and professional relationship, the Chief of the General Staff wished him happiness and good health in his well-deserved retirement, expressing his belief that the upward trend of bilateral military cooperation will continue with the new Chief of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus.
During the visit, General Mojsilović also spoke with President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and Minister of Defense, Vasilis Palmas. With reference to the just concluded military parade, during the meeting, views and opinions were exchanged on security challenges on the European continent and it was concluded that the improvement of cooperation in the field of defense was in mutual interest and absolutely with the aim of strengthening close and friendly relations between our countries and peoples. The Cypriot President and Minister of Defense expressed their gratitude for the presence of the high-level military delegation from the Republic of Serbia at the celebration of the anniversary of the independence of Cyprus.
The Chief of the General Staff also met with Deputy Minister of Defense of Greece Athanasios Davakis. On that occasion, the results of the bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and Greece so far were positively evaluated and the determination to continue strengthening relations in the field of defense was expressed.
At the military parade in Nicosia, modern combat systems possessed by the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus were presented, including products of the Serbian Defense Industry — self-propelled gun-howitzers 155 mm Aleksandar, armored vehicle Miloš and, to the surprise of the present citizens, the multiple modular self-propelled rocket launcher 122/262 mm Tamnava.
The delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces included Head of the Development and Equipment Directorate (J-5), Brigadier General Stanisav Mijailović, Commander of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, Colonel Aleksandar Stupar, and Head of the Office of the Chief of the General Staff, Colonel Boris Stojković.
