ARMY FIRST BRIGADE SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP
With the participation of 150 contestants, officers, NCOs and soldiers in the Backa Topola garrison, Summer Sports Tournament of the members of Army First Brigade.
The Army First Brigade Summer Sports Tournament with 150 officers, NCOs and soldiers as contestants was held in the Backa Topola garrison.
The championship was opened by the First Brigade Commander Brigadier General Djokica Petrovic, who wished the contestants much success and athletes’ good luck. He also pointed out that staying in shape and physical capabilities were the main precondition for performing military tasks.
During this two-day contest, the contestants were divided into three teams: from Novi Sad., Sremska Mitrovica, Backa Topola at Backa sports fields, town shooting field in Subotica and on the slopes on Fruska Gora, where they competed in shooting, military multiple event, shoot, orienteering, volleyball, footsal and athletics.
The most successful contestant in the most attractive sports discipline, militarymultiple event, was soldier Srdjan Pavlovic from Novi Sad team who came in first.
The Backa Topola shooters had the steadiest hand and had the sharpest eye so theydeserved the first place. The highest number of rounds was shot by Warrant Officer Goran Peric, while Senior Sergeant Dejan Mijailovic was the winner in pistol discipline. The Backa Topola contestants in volleyball and footsall came in first.
As for orienteering, the members of Sremska Mitrovica team demonstrated the highest level of preparedness, capability and skills, while Seniro Sergeant Dragan Kljajic from Novi Sad won the best individual result.
The team from Sremska Mitrovica excelled in athletics. The best individual athelets at a 100-m and 400-m race was soldier Aleksandar Dimitrijevic from Sremska Mitrovica.
Profesional Soldier Velimir Djordjevic from Backa Topola won the 300-m race, while the best result went to professional soldier Miroslav Bajic from Sremska Mitrovica. Professional Soldier Nenad Bosnjak from Novi Sad team is the winner of a bomb-throw contest.
After all the results were combined, the Backa Topola home team was proclaimed the all round winner of the Military Summer Championship. The second place went to the Sremska Mitrovica team, while the third place went to Novi Sad team.
