General Dikovic at the 6th Balkan CHODs conference

Serbian Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Ljubisa Dikoviv participated at the Sixth Conference of Balkan Countries Chief of General Staff conference, which was held in Sofia.

The participants of the conference, which was opened by the Chief of the Bulgarian Armed Forces Gen. Simeon Simeonov, were addressed by President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevnelijev. The address was followed by a discussion of issues relating to security challenges and risks 21st century, which can be prevented by joint efforts.

Besides the army chiefs of the armed forces of member states of the initiative (Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia and Turkey, and Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for operation), this year's conference, was also attended by Vice-Chairman of the Military Committee NATO Lieutenant General Walter Gaskin, commander of NATO Joint Forces in Naples, Admiral Bruce Klingan, EUCOM Deputy Chief for Planning, Policy and Strategy Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery, and Deputy Chief of General Staff of the armed forces of Croatia and Slovenia, Rear Admiral Zdenko Simicoic and Brigadier General Andrej Osterman respectively.

In his speech, General Dikovic said that the promotion of regional cooperation is among the main priorities of the Republic of Serbia, and pointed out that "this forum was an excellent opportunity to present national capacity that can be made available to interested parties." General Dikovic had separate talks with General Simeon, Admiral Bruce Klinganom, Chief of General Staff of National Defense of Greece, General Mikhail Kostarakos and Albanian CHOD Brigadier General of Albania Jemal Junkshy.

In the framework of national presentations, Lieutenant Sasha Milutinovic with the Training Command, presented the participants of the conference the RCBD training.

The Conference of Chief of General Staff of the Balkan countries is an important initiative aimed at strengthening military cooperation in the region. Holding sixth such conference proves the importance of regional military cooperation and close neighborly relations among Balkan countries, in order to maintain and strengthen a stable and secure environment in the region and Europe as a whole.
