Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic has visited yesterday the military and police forces involved in the protection of the state border with the Republic of Bulgaria, in the region of Zajecar and Negotin.
At the beginning of the tour of forces, Minister Djordjevic held a
meeting with members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ministry of
Interior in the Nikola Pasic barracks in Zajecar, where Major General
Zelimir Glisovic, Joint Forces Commander, presented tasks of the forces,
the situation on the state border and the measures taken.
As the defence minister personally got assured, members of the Serbian
Armed Forcesand the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region of
Zajecar and Negotin are doing excellent job securing the border from
illegal entry of immigrants into our country.
– Units that are present here under the command of General Glisovic, who was entrusted by the Government and the president to manage
them, carry out the ordered and necessary measures. The deployed forces
are sufficient and depending on the situation we are going to increase
or reduce that number, the minister said.
He commended the members of the military and police for everything they
are doing on the security of the state border and pointed out the
excellent cooperation and coordination of all forces on the ground.
– I am convinced that the situation here will be even better and more
functional, and that we will justify the confidence of the Government,
Minister Djordjevic said.
On the two occupied posts along the border with the Republic of
Bulgaria, the Minister of Defence assured himself of the conditions in
which the deployed forces carry out their tasks, he took part in the
mixed patrol and reviewed the situation in several observation posts.
The
military, police and gendarmerie presented to the Minister of Defence
part of the assets for reconnaissance of the border line in all weather
conditions, day and night, as well as the forces for securing the depth
and interventions.
The minister talked with the soldiers and policemenat the dinner
together, and then visited with his associates the Mokranje border
crossing with the Republic of Bulgaria.
Apart from the members of the military and the police the yesterday's
tour was also attended by Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic,Deputy
Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Brigadier General
Petar Cvetkovic,Director of the Military Security Agency, and Chief
Police Advisor Raco Gojakovic, Assistant Commander of the Joint Forces
for Police Affairs.
