Medal for Courage presented to the Mehic family

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic presented today the Milos Obilic Gold Medal for Courage to the family of late pilot Omer Mehic.

Mehic, the widow of Omer Mehic, was presented with the medal at the
General Secretariat of the President of the Republic.
The presentation ceremony was also attended by Defense Minister
Bratislav Gasic, Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) Chief of the General Staff
General Ljubisa Dikovic and representatives of the MoD and SAF.
The reasons for awarding the medal to Mehic were read out by Chairman of
the Decorations Commission Oliver Antic, who said that Mehic was
"always prepared to take the greatest risk, and proved this in his last
mission when he gave his own life".
Advisor to the President Oliver Antic read the biography of late pilot
and the Decree on Decoration. On April 8, Nikolic posthumously decorated
the SAF members and health care workers who were tragically killed in a
fatal helicopter crash on March 13, 2015.
Upon his initiative, for extraordinary courage and self-sacrifice in
rescuing lives in the extremely dangerous situation, the Milos Obilic
Gold Medal for Courage was posthumously presented to pilot Major Omer
Mehic, pilot Captain Milovan Dukaric, Ensign Nebojsa Dragic. Ensign Ivan
Miladinovic, doctor Dzevad Ljajic, and medical technician Miroslav
Veselinovic.
