Training with SAF modernized tanks

A new training cycle for tank units has begun in the 3rd Army Brigade. The training is being conducted in order to maintain and further enhance their proficiency in executing assigned tasks in defensive and offensive operations.
At this stage, the training is being conducted at the unit’s peacetime deployment area and at training grounds in the vicinity of Niš, using modernized M-84 AS1/2 tanks. In comparison with the original model, these tanks feature greater firepower, enhanced armour protection, and an improved fire control system.
The emphasis is on training newly recruited professional soldiers and officers, while experienced tank crew members are also undergoing intensive training. At this stage, the crews are drilled in standard tactical and fire actions and procedures, tank driving in various weather and terrain conditions, as well as handling arms and maintaining components and subsystems of this complex fighting vehicle.
The following stages of training will include familiarization fire, fire for record, and crew firing events, followed by tactical live fire exercises. These will provide tank crews with an opportunity to put their knowledge and skills to the test in practice, integrating fire and manoeuvre using the main battle tanks in service with the Serbian Armed Forces.
Young men and women interested in serving in this or other tank unit of the Serbian Armed Forces can apply by the end of the month for the recruitment call open to civilians for driver and gunner positions on M-84 and T-72MS tanks in the battalions within the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Army Brigades, as well as in the T-72M Tank Battalion. The duty stations are in Sremska Mitrovica, Kraljevo, Niš and Vranje.
