Remembrance day for the victims of the NATO bombing

On occasion of marking the Remembrance Day on the victims of the NATO bombing, minister of defense Dragan Sutanovac accompanied by LTG Mladen Cirkovic and Brig. Gen. Milosav Simovic, laid a commemorative wreath to the Memorial erected to honor the perished members of the armed forces, as well as the Ministry of the Interior and citizens in Vranje.

Simovic, laid a wreath on the Memorial of fallen members of the Army and the members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the citizens in Vranje.
Wreaths were laid by Chief of the Pcinj District Budimir Mihailovic, the mayor of Vranje Miroljub Stojcic, the representatives of the Security Information Agency and the families of fallen members of the Army. Sutanovac, before laying the wreath, in the barracks "1300 corporal" in Vranje, spoke with the families of victims of the Army from Pcinj district.
- Families of victims during the NATO bombing are going through difficult times as the majority of the citizens in the southern Serbia. The obvious problem is unemployment, the population of this part of Serbia and we will, in cooperation with the local governments do everything to help where possible, the minister said Sutanovac stressing that the Fourth Brigade, and the other brigades were doing their utmost to solve these issues which is one of the reasons why these talks were carried out in a friendly atmosphere.
Sutanovac, during his visit to Vranje, visited the holding company Jumko and talked with the management of the company.
During the visit and the tour of the facilities for the production of uniforms, the Minister met with the workers who acquainted him with the pace at which production was going while also ordering a new quantity of uniforms.
In his address to the media after visiting “Jumko" Sutanovac said regarding the cooperation with this company that the Serbian Armed Forces had received a new shipment of uniforms, and that by the end of the month more than 8000 are expected to arrive. "It is important that 30 percent of the overall Jumko production is for the armed forces and I believe that we will continue to be good partners, "said Minister of defense minister.

"We will continue to have a special relationship with the south of Serbia, as we hope to mount a pontoon bridge in Vladicin Han soon thus enabling the local governments to get some support, which, otherwise, the Army always provides, when citizens are threatened.
Recalling the talks with the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Sutanovac stressed that possible NATO membership was not the among topics since the main focus was on discussing the economic relations between the two countries and new investment projects. The minister said he would discuss military cooperation during this year and would meet with Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation and that he expects the military cooperation in the future to be raised to a higher level.
AS regards the economic loss to the military industry due to the ongoing war in Libya, the minister said this was difficult to predict.
"The Serbian Army has had a long-standing good cooperation with Libya. Due to the current situation, we suspended all our plans to build a military hospital in that country, but as soon as the situation permits that, we are ready to continue the project," said the minister.
Asked by reporters why Serbia has not signed the international Convention on the Ban of the Cluster Bombs Use, although Serbia was one of the biggest victims of their use during the 1999 bombing, Sutanovac said that the reason was the "the security of our country."
"Serbia is one of the biggest victims in the world due to the use of cluster bombs, but our condition is such that we can not give up cluster munitions and that's not a matter of policy but a matter of the profession.
We can not for the sake of convention, which has not been signed by a large number of countries in the world, jeopardize the security of our country, "said the minister.
