Training for Implementation of CBRN Control
Thursday, 21.8.2025 | Training
In the 246th CBRN Battalion stationed in Kruševac, training is carried out daily in order to preserve and improve the ability of this unit of the Serbian Armed Forces to organize and implement the CBRN protection of forces while conducting operations and providing assistance to civil authorities in remediating the consequences of natural disasters, technical-technological and other accidents.
As the main task of the unit, training is designed to provide highly qualified specialists for undertaking actions and procedures of control and decontamination in case weapons of mass destruction are used or some accidental situations occur.
It is divided in two segments - training of CBRN units for reconnaissance and training the units for decontamination, using the equipment that ensures full protection of personnel when working with contaminants and assets for detection, dosimetry and decontamination.
In this training phase, carried out at the Ravnjak Training Ground, members of the unit practiced procedures for implementing CBRN control, through chemical reconnaissance of directions, determination of the boundaries of the contaminated zone and, subsequently, decontamination of the soil and assets.
Captain 1st Class Aleksandar Lukić, commander of the reconnaissance platoon, points out that through the training process, battalion members maintain and improve both individual and collective skills, gaining confidence in the equipment, knowledge and work of the crews and teams.
— Our unit is equipped with the most modern equipment in the world. I would especially emphasize the assets for detection and dosimetry. However, despite all that, the greatest strength of our unit is the character, determination, knowledge and ability of our professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers —said Captain Lukić and invited all young men and women, who want a challenging and honorable job and who want to serve their country, to apply to this and other units of the Serbian Armed Forces for admission.
Successful implementation of training, carried out in the 246th CBRN Battalion throughout the year, maintains and improves further the skills of the professional staff to perform the specific tasks for which this unit is intended and the readiness of the unit for a quick and efficient response if need be.
