The Parachute Special Purpose Units’ All-Round, organized by the 63rd Parachute Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces, has been held this week at the “Sergeant Pilot Mihajlo Petrović” military airfield in Niš and in a wider area of Niška Banja and Jelašnica Gorge.
Four teams from the 63rd Parachute Brigade, two from the 72nd Special Operations Brigade and one team each from the armed forces of Cyprus, Romania and Spain took part in this year’s parachute all-round event, the 24th in a row.
The competition was held on a track 25 kilometers long, with a height difference of about 600 meters. It started with parachute landing, followed by 13 more competitive disciplines, including shooting with an automatic rifle, a pistol and throwing a knife, pulling out a wounded person and a broken-down vehicle, overcoming wire and water obstacles and contaminated soil, throwing a bomb at a target, climbing a vertical rope and searching the terrain.
All teams showed high readiness, exceptional sportsmanship, skill, persistence and perseverance. Members of the first team of the 63rd Parachute Brigade triumphed, followed by the second and third teams of this unit, thus crowning the absolute dominance of the Brigade at the 24th Parachute Special Purpose Units’ All-Round.
