As part of the celebration of Candlemas (Sretenje) – the Serbian Statehood Day, a display of weapons and military equipment and some of the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces has been held in Niš today.

The display has been visited by Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić, together with Minister of Defense Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Milan Mojsilović.

At the end of the tour, the President of the Republic congratulated the Minister of Defense, Chief of the General Staff, all members of the Serbian Armed Forces and citizens on the Candlemas Day, our greatest state and national holiday, which, according to him, is the day that not only speaks most eloquently about our history, but it also shows us the way to the future, the path of Karađorđe’s courage, Miloš’s wisdom and perpetual fight for the preservation of Serbian independence and freedom.

— Some of the most modern weapons of the Serbian Armed Forces have been displayed in Niš today. I would like to thank and ask all our workers in the factories to continue working and producing the best weapons, such as “Noras”, “Tamnavas”, “Gvozdikas”, so that we can always protect our country. Serbia will not only jealously guard its military neutrality, but it will also protect its sky and its citizens. We will have enough capabilities for that, always enough state-of-the-art weapons and always enough brave hearts like our fighters, our heroes, our veterans who are with us today - said President Vučić, adding that they had always been ready to lay down their lives on the altar of the fatherland.

As the President of the Republic has emphasized, we have a lot to learn from our past, but the most important thing is to look at how to push the country forward, how to make economic progress, how to think about higher salaries and pensions, but “without forgetting ever what the highest value of Serbia, all its citizens and Serbian people as a whole is”.

— That is freedom. We must never sacrifice freedom at any cost, and that is why I am a proud President of Serbia, who can say today that Serbia is free, independent and that it makes its own decisions.

Modern combat and non-combat systems, numerous weapons and military equipment of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as products of the Serbian defense industry, have been exhibited in Niš today. This is the first time that the electronic warfare system “Repellent” has been presented to the public, intended for fight against unmanned aerial vehicles.

The display has been rounded off by a flyover of SAF aircraft: MiG-29 and CASA C-295 aircraft, and Mi-35 and H-145 helicopters.
