Training of Forces for CBRN Defence
Thursday, 26.3.2026 | Training
The Serbian Armed Forces CBRN units are equipped with modern assets and are highly trained to perform CBRN security tasks independently and as part of other structures in all three missions of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The training is carried out continuously throughout the year, in order to maintain and improve further the ability to organize and implement special CBRN measures of protection of forces in operations.
At the military training ground “Ravnjak” in Kruševac, members of the 246th CBRN Battalion are now practicing the implementation of CBRN control in case weapons of mass destruction are used or during accidental situations. The training includes chemical reconnaissance of routes, determining boundaries of the contaminated zone and decontamination of soil and assets.
During the training process, modern protective equipment for personnel and modern devices are used, such as the multi-functional mobile decontamination platform MPD-09, domestically produced, which, according to its purpose, combines five other assets — a decontamination tanker, a water tanker, fire truck, a water pump and a decontamination device.
Company commander in the 246th CBRN Battalion, Captain 1st Class Aleksandar Lukić, points out that this Army unit is equipped and trained to plan, organize and implement special CBRN security measures, as well as to eliminate the consequences of chemical and nuclear accidents.
— Training is the most important task in the 246th CBRN Battalion, the goal being to maintain and improve the level of skills of the unit members, both individually and collectively — said Captain Lukić, adding that the unit was equipped with modern assets, primarily detection and dosimetry devices and means of protection.
The capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces CBRN units are also being developed in accordance with international standards, ensuring a high interoperability level, i.e. the ability to perform specific tasks together with the forces of other countries.
