- It difficult to describe in a
few words the life and list the merits of Zivojin Misic, who was born
into a peasant family in Struganik, and rose to the rank of Duke and
General – as the SAF CHOD stated, noting that Misic who once a shepherd
on the slopes of the Maljen and Suvobor mountains, grew into a skilled
military leader who was even urged by the French Marshal Geoffeur to
visit the Western Front, in order to listen carefully to all his remarks
regarding the current situation in the Western Front.
He
wore the military uniform for more than forty years, and fought in six
wars – as General Miletic said, noting that the Misic took every
opportunity to show courage and extraordinary an gift for the art of
warfare. He demonstrated his remarkable military talent in the First
World War, especially in the Battle of Kolubara, when he opposed the
second Austro-Hungarian offensive against Serbia.
- His
outstanding commander skills and a great contribution to the victory of
the Allies in World War I made him the most prominent European military
leader, while the ideas and the strategic solutions of Zivojin Misic
have been recorded in all textbooks of warfare and are therefore learned
in all military academies around the world - said the General Miletic.
While
he fought with courage, and led the Serbian army steadfastness and
capability to victory and glory, in peace he worked tirelessly and
meticulously on building and developing of the country.
He
knew how to encourage soldiers and inspire them to do great deeds of
courage. While he advanced in a military career he remained modest, even
when he became the Chief of the Supreme Command of the Serbian army. He
was a man of the people, never ashamed or forsaking his roots and
origin – as the CHOD remarked, adding that members of our armed forces
are proud to recall the prominent Duke. - His works oblige us to
continue with a forceful pace towards a strong and modern Serbian Armed
Forces. May he rest in an eternal glory -as General Miletic said.

Misic, spoke about growing up, family and the life of the famous
general.
