President Nikolic posthumously awards pilot Major Goran Savic
On 28 September 2012, President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic issued a Decree on awarding Major Goran Savic, posthumously, with Milos Obilic Bravery Medal in Gold for courage and an act of great personal heroism. Goran Savic (39) is a Serbian hero who sacrificed his life to save the lives of children. Goran left behind two minor children, but with his death he saved the lives of many other people.

On 26 September, Major Savic drove the trainer aircraft Lasta V-54. The plane crashed into the yard of the factory of paints "Vitex" in Nova Pazova and on this occasion Savic lost his life. Thanks to the heroic act of pilot Savic, who was ,looking for the safest place until the last minute to land, none of the residents of Nova Pazova and children from the nearby school and kindergarten was injured.
