Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić has visited today the Serbian Armed Forces units at the Mija Stanimirović Barracks in Niš, with Minister of Defense Bratislav Gašić and Chief of the General Staff General Milan Mojsilović.
On that occasion, a briefing was held on the state of strength, weapons and military equipment and war reserve materiel, after which the Commander-in-Chief visited a display of arms and military equipment, and attended a demonstration of some of the capabilities of members of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The President of the Republic has pointed out that in the heated geopolitical and regional situation, which is not easy, filling the units of the Serbian Armed Forces is better than in previous years.
— The inflow of soldiers is greater than the outflow. This year and next year, there will be a significantly greater inflow than outflow due to the changes in the law that we passed in the National Assembly and the possibility of working for an indefinite period of time for professional soldiers. At the same time, it seems to me that better salaries are something that attracts people to the armed forces, as well as the patriotic attitude towards the most important and popular institution in the state — said the President of Serbia.
He has emphasized that the food supply in the armed forces is at the level of 100 percent and that there are very large fuel reserves, some even over 100 percent, that only the aircraft fuel is slightly below, but that this is being resolved, as well as that there is a very good supply of ordnance.
Saying that today the Serbian Armed Forces is not the same army as it was ten years ago, especially when it comes to equipment and weapons, President Vučić has pointed out the importance of equipping it, adding that he will do his best to ensure that in the next few years Serbia has around 70,000 or 80,000 kamikaze drones, and that the production and purchase of weapons in Serbia is accelerating.
At the display of arms and military equipment at the Niš barracks, modular MLRS Pulse, PASARS and Mistral AD missile systems, the M-84 AS1/2 tank, the M-80 AB1/2 infantry fighting vehicle, the Lazar 3, Humvee and Miloš armored fighting vehicles, the GM-200 radar, self-propelled howitzer 155 mm NORA, reconnaissance and attack drones, as well as various types of small arms and other equipment were displayed.
During the tour, which was attended by members of the collegiums of the Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff, some of the capabilities of the AD missile battery HQ-17AE were shown.
