Timok Brigade

Timok Brigade is intended to provide the initial conditions for the mobilization, growth, training and reaching the operational capabilities of this territorial brigade according to the war formation .

It is located in garrison Zaječar, in the barracks "Nikola Pašić".

Timok Brigade comprises HQ, HQ Company and Logistic Company.

Colonel Saša Todorov is the Commander of the Timok Brigade.

Tasks of the Timok Brigade

Timok Brigade is tasked with:

Training of commands and units,
Improvement of the operational capabilities and growth of the Brigade’s capacities,
Provision of logistic support in the garrison Zaječar, and
Garrison affairs.

Traditions of the Timok Brigade

It was established through reorganization of the 5th Training Centre in 2007 and continues the glorious tradition of the 9th Infantry Brigade, which, through fighting endeavours, left its mark in the World War 2 and wars led on the territory of the former SFRY. October 19 is celebrated as the Day of the unit, in remembrance of the day when the French General Gambet’s cavalry unit in 1918 entered and liberated Zaječar in World War 1.

After the renaming, the Command for Development of the Timok Brigade has been officially named the Timok Brigade since January 1, 2022.
