Members of the Serbian Armed Forces, who were sent to the Republic of Slovenia last week, are engaged daily in performing various tasks to help the citizens of this country eliminate the consequences of catastrophic floods.

Our contingent is mainly engaged in the north-east of the country in the areas affected the most - Carinthia and Styria - where, due to floods and landslides, road communications have been interrupted and supply of basic necessities to the population has been hampered.

Flight crews of Mi-17 and H-145M helicopters, reinforced by members of the Serbian Armed Forces’ special force units, are conducting air transport of rescue teams, civilians, water, fuel and other materials, spending more than eight hours a day in the air.

At the same time, in the threatened areas, an engineering working group is working on clearing and repairing damaged roads and eliminating numerous landslides, while members of the SAF CBRN Service are doing biological disinfection of roads, land and facilities, using tankers and modern disinfection devices.

During their engagement in the humanitarian operation in Slovenia, members of the Serbian Armed Forces have received such a warm welcome by the locals, who express their gratitude to our soldiers for the help provided and selfless work on creating conditions for the normalization of life.

Through participation in the humanitarian operation to prevent, eliminate, mitigate and remove the consequences of floods in the Republic of Slovenia, the Serbian Armed Forces show their readiness and skills to respond in a short time to provide assistance in the areas hit by natural disasters, not only in the country but also in the region. In this way, the determination of the Republic of Serbia to strengthen regional relations and cooperation is confirmed.
