Thursday, 7.9.2023 | International Co-operation
In accordance with the international cooperation plan of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, the Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard Major General John Harris is paying an official visit to our country.

Today, General Harris has visited the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff where he discussed with Chief of the General Staff General Milan Mojsilović the current security situation in the region and possibilities of further improvement of bilateral military cooperation

During the conversation, it has been pointed out that the cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard, which was established as part of the State Partnership Program between Serbia and the USA 17 years ago, is developed and comprehensive and is constantly being improved. The importance of joint activities in the field of training, NCO corps development and cyber defense for achieving interoperability and raising the level of operational capabilities of the armed forces have been particularly emphasized.

The interlocutors agreed that expanding cooperation from the military to the civilian sector opens up new opportunities for improving relations, especially through the implementation of various humanitarian assistance projects, which create a long-term positive effect on the lives of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia. Today's signing of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the American state of Ohio at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, which represents a new framework for further development of relations in the areas of common interest, supports this fact.

Before the official talks at the General Staff, General Harris was also received by Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić.

In the continuation of the visit, the Ohio National Guard Adjutant General will have a meeting with Minister of Defense Miloš Vučević and will visit some of the units of the Serbian Armed Forces.
