The "Serbian Shield" Tactical Exercise has been held at the “South” Base and nearby “Borovac” Training Ground this week, where the ability of the 2nd Army Brigade infantry company to participate in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon was tested.

During several days of training activities, members of the company, which will be engaged in this Middle Eastern country as part of the Spanish contingent, carried out tactical missions that could be expected in the area of operation. The skills and interoperability of the unit were assessed by the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Assessment Team.

Procedures in the event of an attack on the base or encountering mines and explosive devices were monitored and evaluated, as well as the application of tactical actions and procedures when securing checkpoints, convoys and escorts, medical evacuation of the injured, and suppression and control of mass gatherings.

It has been concluded that the infantry company has reached the defined standards and is fully ready for engagement with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, thus confirming the quality of training and preparations of the unit that have been going on for the last few months.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been deploying an infantry company in this operation since 2013; there is also a force protection platoon as part of the Italian Contingent in Lebanon, as well as staff officers and a group of specialists in charge of supporting our contingent.
