Marking of Military Holidays

On the occasion of marking the Day of the Banat Brigade and the Day of the Peacekeeping Operations Center of the Operations Directorate (J-3) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, military ceremonies were held today in the barracks in Zrenjanin and Belgrade.

The members of the Banat Brigade marked their day with a ceremony at the "National Hero Svetozar Marković Toza" barracks in Zrenjanin in commemoration of November 17, 1918, when the victorious Serbian military entered what was then Veliki Bečkerek.

As part of the ceremony, awards were presented to the best individuals, key achievements in building the capabilities of the brigade were highlighted, and a tactical-technical assembly of weapons and military equipment was held.

In the "Banjica" barracks in Belgrade, the Day of the Unit was marked by members of the Peacekeeping Operations Center in commemoration of November 17, 1956, when the advance unit of the Yugoslav People's Army was deployed within the United Nations Emergency Response Force in Sinai.

At the ceremony held on that occasion, the results of the Center's work in the year behind us were summarized, awards were presented to prominent individuals and the promotional video "Deployment in Peacekeeping Missions" was premiered.

On this occasion, the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Stanojević, who died on March 29, 2022 in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was presented with the Dag Hammarskjöld medal, with which this honorable officer of the Serbian Armed Forces was posthumously awarded by the United Nations Organization. It is a decoration that honors the members of the United Nations multinational forces who died while carrying out the tasks of building and preserving peace in the world.
