Wreath-laying Ceremony to Mark First World War Armistice Day

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt Avala, to mark the First World War Armistice Day.

After the wreath-laying ceremony, Minister Stefanović wrote the following in the memorial book: “Standing in front of the crypt of the heroes of history we reaffirm that the memory of their courage and sacrifice in the First World War transcends space and time. We pay tribute to both our ancestors and all victims of this historical event and proudly remember the victory of Serbia and its people in the liberation war. You responded to the call to defend the honour and freedom of the Serbian people and state and you succeeded in doing so. Rest in peace and be assured that you will forever be an example of sacrifice and love for the homeland, resting on a pedestal of those who are remembered. You deserve eternal glory. Thank you!“
