Members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade spent the last two weeks doing conditioning for executing intended tasks in winter conditions.

It is part of the Brigade's regular training activities intended to sustain and advance further the professional staff’s ability to conduct special operations, thus the overall combat readiness of this SAF unit.

During training in mountainous terrain day and night, the focus was kept on refining tactics during reconnaissance, carrying out surprise raids, offensive actions and ambushes and collecting intelligence using modern observation means.

In addition to tactical training, the Brigade members also did conditioning in alpine skiing, since knowing skiing techniques is necessary to accomplish the tasks efficiently in a winter environment.

The training activity involved professional soldiers admitted under Project 5000 to the unit in early August last year, who joined the regular training process for special force members after completing successfully basic specialist six-month training.

Continuous training in various combat, terrain and weather conditions ensures the supreme competence, physical preparedness and mental strength of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade members, which is instrumental in implementing efficiently the complex tasks of the unit, primarily in the enemy’s tactical and operational depth.
