In the engineering and pontoon battalions of the Serbian Armed Forces, military ceremonies have been held today on the occasion of the Engineering Day, marked on November 6 1865, when the engineering branch was formed by separating pontoniers and pioneers from artillery.

On the occasion of the holiday, greetings were read in front of the ceremonial parades of members of the units, working results in the year behind us were summarized and the most successful individuals were presented with awards and recognitions.

While reviewing the achieved results, it has been pointed out that members of the engineering branch have been engaged in all three missions of the Serbian Armed Forces over the last year, and that by successfully completing tasks in support of other units of the Serbian Armed Forces in peacekeeping operations and by providing assistance to the citizens of Serbia, they showed high morale and outstanding skills.

Engineers are a branch of the Serbian Armed Forces intended to execute engineering activities by creating and overcoming obstacles, arranging roads and making fortifications. The number and variety of tasks that engineering units carry out have led to the division of this branch into several specialties; so, today, there are reconnaissance, pioneer, pontoon, amphibious, road, bridge, fortification and camouflage specialties.
