A tactical exercise with live fire was performed today at the "Orešac" range with members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade and the 2nd Spetsnaz Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This was the final segment of the seven-day training of special units of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Russian Federation Armed Forces which was conducted in the wider region of Deliblatska pescara, with the support of the Air Force and Air Defence.

The exercise was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence Phd Nebojsa Stefanović, Chief of Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Army General Nikolai Pankov, Deputy Defence Minister, General Alexander Fomin and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.

Today's tactical exercise with live fire consisted of four segments. Special units first demonstrated reconnaissance procedures collecting intelligence on an aerial terrorist group, from water and land. An attack against terrorist forces and action against the kidnapped vehicle followed, and the last phase of the dynamic display was the evacuation of forces after the destruction of the terrorists and the security of the facility.

During the exercise, Mi-17, Mi-8 and "Gazelle" combat helicopters were used, as well as "Tiger", "Milos" and "Humvee" vehicles, state-of-the-art small arms, optoelectronic devices and equipment of special units, including assault boats and "crossbow" parachutes. Complex techniques of landing on the water surface were presented, as well as landing with the "fast-rope" technique.

The last day of joint training of Serbian and Russian special units presented a high level of synchronization and cooperation in conducting complex tactical actions during counter-terrorist operations.

— Training of members of the 2nd Spetsnaz Brigade and the 72nd Special Operations Brigade in the previous seven days was performed in the function of peacekeeping, more specifically for the purpose of joint training of commands and units for the purpose of exchange of experiences, transfer of knowledge, skills and habits from modern fight against terrorism — said the commander of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade and the commander of today's exercise, Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan and added that today's exercise was the crown of that joint training.
