Army River Flotilla pontooners have today dismantled the pontoon bridge that connected the Zemun quay with the Great War Island during summer season.

The 362-meter-long bridge with a total carrying capacity of 20 tons, was assembled at the end of  June this year. Until today, pontooners of the River Flotilla took daily care of the bridge safety and its maintenance and thus provided citizens with easy access to Zemun beach Lido.

The elements of the pontoon bridge have been dismantled by a complex and demanding operation on two navigable sections, by which, using waterway, the pontooners will  transport the camping and other equipment to the original barracks.

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces, in cooperation with the Tourist organization of the Zemun municipality have been bridging the Danube from the Great War Island to the Zemun bank for years, and in addition to the benefits for the citizens, it is also an excellent opportunity for  the pontoon units to further improve the skills for performing specific tasks.
