International Course in the Field of Ionizing Radiation Protection

CBRN Center in Kruševac organized „Detection, dosimetry and protection against ionizing radiation“ Course this week, which was attended not only by members of the Serbian Armed Forces, but also by members of the armed forces from eight other countries.

During the five-day training, participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Hungary, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and Spain, were trained to work in conditions of exposure to ionizing radiation. 

In classrooms and practical exercises, they trained the use of means for detection and dosimetry, techniques for measuring and identifying sources of ionizing radiation, assessing the effects of radiation on biological systems and applying basic protection measures.

The training in this international course was conducted by certified instructors from the CBRN Center and guest lecturers from the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, the Šumadija Academy of Vocational Studies and the Directorate for Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security of Serbia.

The implementation of this and similar international courses at the CBRN Center contributes to the exchange of experiences, further improvement of the Serbian Armed Forces training capacities, as well as strengthening military cooperation and overall bilateral relations with partner countries.
