Basic Parachute Training of Soldiers at Military Service

Basic parachute training of soldiers of the "September 2021" class who are serving in the 63rd Parachute Brigade is being conducted at the military airport "Sergeant-pilot Mihajlo Petrović" in Niš.

The training is the final part of the process of training soldiers for military service in parachuting. It is performed during four weeks, with the ground part lasting three, and the parachute jumps - one week.

Within the ground part of the training, which is extremely psychophysically demanding, the emphasis is on working on parachute devices, as well as on enhanced physical preparation, with the aim that the soldiers fully acquire the necessary knowledge about the parachute and parachute equipment and master the basics of the technique of performing a parachute jump. Actions are practiced to the point of automatism in order to reduce the possibility of irregularities during the jump to a minimum.

What follows is conducting parachute jumps in day and night conditions, with weapons and additional burden, with the use of modern parachutes that are in use in the unit since 2018.

The result of the successfully performed basic parachute training are paratroopers trained to perform parachute jumps with a landing parachute in all conditions, and almost everyone from this class will become part of the professional component of the 63rd Parachute Brigade after completing their military service.
