Minister Vulin: Modern Heliport for the Serbian Armed Forces and All Our Citizens

Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Major General Duško Žarković and Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia Mirjana Čizmarov attended today the opening of the new heliport at the Military Medical Academy.

After visiting the newly constructed facility and being informed of the performed works on the MMA Heliport infrastructure, Minister Vulin pointed out that it is the most modern and only true heliport in Serbia, which has all the elements necessary for this purpose He added that until recently, at the MMA Heliport there was only one landing-point and there was no light.

– Now we have two landing points, both with lights, which means that in all weather conditions, day and night, we can receive all types of helicopters, regardless of their size. Patients of the MMA have thus received a valuable service, and the Serbian Armed Forces have acquired a new capability and all the citizens of Serbia a valuable asset. Every investment in the Serbian Armed Forces is an investment in the quality of life of every citizen and by having stronger and better equipped Serbian Armed Forces with more new capabilities the life of every citizen of our country will be easier – Minister Vulin said.

The Minister of Defence thanked the Director of Civil Aviation Directorate Mirjana Čizmarov for a large donation of RSD 25.000.000, adding that all funds for infrastructure work at the heliport were provided from the donation, not from the budget.

It is a great pleasure for me to thank the Director Čizmarov for understanding and recognizing the need to help the patients of the MMA, as well as to every our citizen, but also to the Serbian Armed Forces. I also call on other socially responsible entities to always think that they can help their military because in that way they will help their country as well. The Heliport is open, it will be used and let’s hope we will use it during peace and always for good, but it is available 24/7 for all citizens of our country, not only for the members of the Serbian Armed Forces – said Minister Vulin.

Speaking on the importance of the newly constructed MMA Heliport, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Duško Žarković pointed out that the conditions for the accommodation of helicopter crews, service members on duty, as well as medical personnel and persons transported by helicopters are met.

– It is the only heliport in the Republic of Serbia that provides the conditions for landing two helicopters simultaneously, at two points, day and night, in all conditions. It is very important for the AF and AD, the MMA as well as for entire Defence System – said General Žarković and added that since January 1, 2019, the Heliport has been put into service and conditions for the landing all helicopters have been met.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the MoD State Secretary Bojan Jocić, Head of Military Health Department Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić and Acting Head of the MMA Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljević.
