Sergeant Đuro Borbelj, 1st Army Brigade, won the major Marathon race, being at the same time the Serbian champion in this discipline. He ran the 42km 125m race in 2:28:6, reaching his personal and SAF record.

In addition to Sergeant Borbelj, excellent results were also scored by LTC Nenad Milosavljević, Military Academy, winning the 10km race, Civilian Milivoje Jovović, Technical Test Centre, winning the 25km race, whereas Second Lieutenant Jelena Sarić, River Flotilla, took first place in the women's race on the same track. There were 92 SAF members participating in this year's Novi Sad Marathon. They competed in five athletic disciplines – Marathon, 25/10/6km races and Marathon Relay. The excellent results that were scored at this international competition are confirmation of the quality of physical training and importance attached to sports in SAF, having in mind that highly developed physical skills are a prerequisite for a successful execution of military tasks.
