Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, accompanied by Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Major General Petar Cvetković, visited the units of the 1st Army Brigade in the Sremska Mitrovica Garrison today, on the occasion of 31 October — Day of the Armored Units.

After the visit, Minister Vulin recalled that in the wars of the 1990s, in the wars that Serbia neither caused, nor sought, nor provoked, the Armored Units of our Armed Forces proved their value.

— They have demonstrated how significant they are, they have demonstrated how tough they are, they have demonstrated how capable they are to fulfill each of their tasks. Here, today, when Serbia is at peace, Armored Units are one of the most important Branches of our Armed Forces, and Armored Units prove that every investment in them is justified and necessary. That is why, not only will we maintain the proper condition of our Armored Units, but also invest considerable resources and great efforts in their modernization, in order for them to reach the levels of all other highly developed countries — emphasized Minister Vulin.

According to him, the priority is taking care of the members of the Armed Forces, the man comes first.

— Everyone who bind their fate to the Serbian Armed Forces can rest assured that they will be taken care of and that there is a system that will take care of both them and their families — said Minister Vulin, who extended congratulations on the Day of the Armored Units after the visit and demonstration.

As the Commander of the 15th  Tank Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Borislav Krnjajić pointed out, part of the training of a Tank Company, which is carried out during the implementation of intensive training, which the Tank Company performs at least once a year, was demonstrated during today’s visit.

— This is only one part of the training that the unit undergoes, and in particular, the Tank Company procedure at the signal “ready for march” is shown, in which the Tank Company Commander puts the Tank Company in position for the next task — said Lieutenant Colonel Krnjajić, adding that the use of the trainer, designed for the individual training of tank gunners, was also presented. Lieutenant Colonel Krnjajić went on to say he was pleased with the implementation of measures to improve the material status of the members of the Armored Units, as well as other members of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces.

Lieutenant Aleksandar Đorđić, a Platoon Commander in the Tank Company of the 15th Tank Battalion, points out that he has been with that battalion for two years, adding that it is an honor to be a member of the Armored Units on this day.

— The state of the assets is exceptional, the people are motivated and trained to work and perform all the tasks assigned by the Superior Command — said Lieutenant Đorđić.

As Lieutenant Dušan Sinadinović, the Commander of the Tank Platoon in the 15th Tank Battalion said, the operation of a training asset for charging and a simulator for training in shooting and aiming was presented during today’s visit.

— These are modern simulators and are the essence of our training in terms of direct fire training of units of this Battalion. Simulators enable savings in the allocation of funds, minimal risk of injury during the training, and they can be applied in both the training of soldiers on voluntary military service and professional soldiers who are already members of the tank crews — said Lieutenant Sinadinović, adding that he was satisfied with the condition of the assets in the Platoon, the assets are in operational condition and prepared to perform all the tasks.

At the “Boško Plakovljević Pinki” barracks, members of the 15th Tank Battalion and the 13th Division of Self-Propelled Multipurpose Rocket Launchers carried out a demonstration of a Tank Company on a march, training of a Tank Gunner on a simulator and a training asset for charging a cannon, taking a firing position with 128-mm Self-Propelled Rocket Launchers M-77 “Oganj” (“Blaze”), as well as preparing combat assets for fire and march.

Today’s visit also included the Chief of Staff of the Command of the Land Forces, Brigadier General Željko Tramošljika, and Commander of the 1st Army Brigade, Brigadier General Zoran Nasković.
