Rotation of Serbian Armed Forces’ Contingents in Peacekeeping Operation in Sinai

Wednesday, 6.3.2024 | Multinational Operations
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces, who have been engaged in the international peacekeeping operation in the Sinai Peninsula since last July, have returned to the Republic of Serbia after completing successfully their participation in the mission and handing over their duties to a new contingent.

It was the first contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces that had participated in this mission of the independent peacekeeping organization Multinational Force and Observers, established in accordance with the agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Israel in 1981, with the aim of implementing the security provisions of the agreement between Egypt and Israel in 1978.

Over the past seven months, members of our contingent, comprising a ten-member engineering task force, have been tasked to perform engineering and infrastructure works at the mission camp in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula.

Their engagement was assessed by superior officers and the mission HQ as extremely professional and responsible, confirming the reputation of the Serbian soldier in the best possible way and representing the Serbian Armed Forces and our country in an international environment.

They were replaced in the Area of Operation by members of the second rotation of the SAF engineering unit that began their six-month engagement in the same tasks after duty-handover.
