Training of Military Paratroopers in Wind Tunnel

Members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, who are undergoing advanced forms of training, have spent the last two weeks in Prague training in a free-fall simulator — wind tunnel.

This is the third time that the Brigade’s professional staff have received this form of training in the Czech Republic and is a preparation for advanced parachute training which aims to teach military paratroopers to perform free-fall jumps with special wing-type parachutes, with weapons and equipment, onto small terrain.

During the activities which lasted for two weeks, the Brigade members practically perfected the techniques and procedures for performing parachute jumps, the focus being on mastering free fall elements and practicing jumps with cargo bags, that is, with weapons and military equipment.

Training in the wind tunnel is important in terms of safety, saving material resources and, above all, for shortening the duration of training, since each of the paratroopers of the Serbian Armed Forces has been in the wind tunnel for the period of time equivalent to about 50 free-fall training jumps from an aircraft flying at 4000m.
